The Biopsychosocial Framework for Autism Spectrum Disorder and Confusion Around Causes and Cures by Drs. Jotie Mondair, Rosemarie Moser, and Bridget Mayer. 


“Longstanding discourse surrounding autism spectrum disorder (ASD) has again become the topic of public discussion following remarks from the Secretary of Health and Human Services, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., that referenced finding the "cause" and developing a "cure" for this multifaceted neurodevelopmental condition (Autism Announcement Fact Sheet, 2025). Discussions across media outlets have attempted to clarify the current research and conceptualize how support for individuals with autism can be prioritized. Unfortunately, confusion regarding ASD has increased, with the biomedical vs. social science frameworks pitted against each other in an attempt to better understand this disorder (Knopf, 2025). Instead, a more integrated Biopsychosocial Framework has been offered to better understand ASD.”
